Lela Rose is a foodie and for fall she was inspired by the legendary El Bulli restaurant in Spain, specifically how its chefs present the dishes. The result was a collection with more geometry and texture than usual and less of Rose’s signature whimsy. Sometimes it worked to stimulating effect but other times came across flat. In the former camp, a navy striped felted mohair coat with matching sweater and gray flannel trousers felt contemporary and relevant.

Less convincing was the cocktail attire which sometimes read a bit too Southern belle.
