Alejandra Alonso has a lot to be thankful for this year. Not only did she launch her ready-to-wear and shoe collection À Moi, but her husband is OK after receiving treatments for a brain tumor. His MRIs served as her inspiration — her patterns represent the anatomy of the brain, translated into beautiful hand-knit and hand-embroidered sweaters. Alonso also created a chic snakeskin print after discovering that snake venom is used as an alternative remedy in treating brain illnesses.

Alonso also showed beautifully tailored coats, T-shirts in lightweight cashmere or cool leather and a luxe shearling vest. Her shoes, all made in her native Spain, range from feminine embroidered pumps to a sexy, strappy python sandal. Talk about making the best of a bad situation.
