Get ready for “liftoff,” as John Patrick called his Organic collection backstage before his show. In a strict, minimal lineup, Patrick drew inspiration from NASA photographs from the Gemini and Apollo missions, which translated into modern clothes with wearable ease.
Working in a monochromatic palette of whites, grays, indigo and silver, Patrick focused on layers. “The mock neck is the piece of the season,” he said, and on the runway, it was layered under almost all the looks. Key pieces included a transparent knife-pleat skirt, quilted tops paired with shorts, duffel coats and faux fur toppers. Patrick hit the outer limits, however, with a double-face flight suit, which took his inspiration a little too literally.
