Inspired by British TV drama “The Singing Detective,” Emily Saunder filled her quirky, somewhat overwhelming lineup with the slinky silhouettes of the mysterious women of film noir, starkly contrasted with Eighties’ multicolor geometric patterns.

The collection was heavy on soft velvet, as in a draped minidress with a sensual cutout on the bodice and a round-hem T-shirt dress trimmed with a graphic motif.

Saunder also embroidered a long-sleeve black silk top with cigarette-shaped beading, reminiscent of Schiaparelli, and worked a flowing navy silk gown with a high slit and lace details.
