Backstage before her show, Sophie Theallet spoke about the woman who inspired her this season: “I saw Louis Malle’s ‘Elevator to the Gallows,’ where this chic Parisian girl married to a very wealthy man is planning to murder him.”
And what does this intriguing lady wear while doing so? According to Theallet, minidresses, superfitted suits and flowy, revealing maxidresses. The collection was a mix of sophisticated and sexy.
The minidresses were somewhat risqué, done in interesting cuts and fabric mixes to an almost patchwork effect — for example, a nude leather and red velvet bodice number featured a high-slit red velvet and crepe skirt.
“This girl goes out at night, and she has a twisted mind,” added Theallet. So for nightlife, the designer offered fitted glittery suits, like a metallic blue and purple version that exuded confidence. But the killer look was the finale halter maxidress, done in a sheer metallic fabric with just the right amount of see-through.
