Steven Alan had two things in mind while designing his latest women’s collection: Andrew Wyeth’s somber paintings of windswept women, and his employees who “layer on sweaters, blankets and scarves to keep warm” in his cold office space. Thus, Alan piled it on for fall.

Working primarily in wintry monochromatics like grays, blues and ivory, he showed a layered blanket sweater with a long suede skirt, a playful plaid jumpsuit, a quilted tie-dyed denim jacket and plenty of terrific outerwear, namely a cropped peacoat. It all made for a coolly chic way to venture out on days like these.
