For a second season, the VFiles Web site selected a group of new designers and gave them the chance to show during New York Fashion Week. The candidates included ASSK, made up of Paris-based Australians Agatha Kowalewski and Sarah Schofield, Melitta Baumeister and Hyein Seo.

At ASSK, the designers showed an urban and sporty collection of printed T-shirts, quilted bomber jackets and sweatshirts in a colorful palette. Prints included a camo motif and a pill-bottle-bedecked one.

The directional mood of Baumeister’s collection was set by two looks: an overly oversize moto coat in black vinyl worn over a black shirt and trousers, and a cropped version of the coat worked in white Neoprene.

As for Seo’s show, the word “Fear” was emblazoned on jackets, shirts and dresses. Aside from those looks, some of the clothes were quite wearable. A simple navy midi dress, for example, was shown with a black fur coat in white paint splatters.
