“It’s the story of a girl in the mountains — by night,” said Christine Phung backstage, summing up her après-ski-cum-cocktail mood for fall. The show kicked off with a sexy ensemble: cropped sweater, high-waisted skinny pants, goggles and a pair of skis resting on the model’s shoulder. From there, Phung moved into mostly skirts and dresses, which looked best when she pumped up their volume for a look that at times resembled flouncy dirndls.
Phung’s prints and patterns this season were inspired by the firewood and marquetry of a mountain chalet, while an icy blue jacquard delicately delineated a wintery landscape.
Given all of the cocktail looks in this collection, the few elegantly belted cashmere coats could really come in handy.
