Sharon Wauchob said she “wanted to have fun with fashion” and “not take it so seriously this season.”
The playfulness came through via rich textures, as the designer made a point of taking fabrics “out of context.” She treated soft leather as if it were silk, on unassumingly sexy lingerie dresses. Drawing inspiration from the military world, she took some mannish coats and embroidered them with heart motifs. These went over transparent lace and tulle dresses, setting a romantic mood with a grungy undercurrent.
There was also a woven jacquard that was first printed, then pleated to look resemble a knit. But it was the ample Mongolian lamb coats, which stole the show. Done in black, light gray and midnight blue, they simply looked great.
