With rainbows and elegant women as inspiration, Seoul-based designer Jei Kim showed a Fleamadonna collection that combined a sporty vibe with an edgy glamour. She started out with a drop-waist dress in a pink leopard pattern, accessorized with a jumbo pearl necklace and pearl-studded socks. She then riffed on varsity letters with jackets, jerseys and athletic shorts, working in swingy skirts, puff-sleeve blouses and ruffled elements.
A literal interpretation of the rainbow concept came via a striped silk dress in soft gray, purple and blue tones, worn under a shaggy blue jacket. Kim said her ribbon bows were a play on the word rainbow; the motif came as allover prints on a long T-shirt dress and top-and-pants combo and as embellishments on a sweatshirt and shorts.
In a show rife with adornment, some of the simpler looks were the most appealing like a double-breasted jacket over a baby blue tulle skirt.
