Self-proclaimed modernists Sonja Rubin and Kip Chapelle infused their fall lineup with “heavier fare.” Their typically light and delicate satin pieces were rethought into arty original prints they developed with designer Johanna Michel. The duo were also inspired by Scottish men’s wear. Case in point: tweed coats, pleated skirts and virtual fringe prints on silk dresses. “Layering and mixing prints just felt right,” said Rubin in her show notes. We agree.
