I’m Isola Marras RTW Fall 2015

Antonio Marras conceives every show like a narrative, and for his contemporary label I’m Isola Marras, he conjured a dream-like meeting between Laura Palmer and Laura Ingalls.

Models waded through a parterre of dried leaves in sweeping chiffon gowns featuring photo prints of tartan patterns and a deer. The tartan pattern was worked on everything from a zip-up blanket skirt to oversized shirts and trailing scarves.

These jumbled layers, sturdy shoes heightening the punk attitude, were perfect for Harajuku girls. Marras sprinkled in a couple of upscale variations, including a chic gray skirt in striped necktie silk with a camouflage-patterned wool vest.

There was a hallucinatory quality to the number of ideas and patterns on display. Seventies wallpaper prints, oversized sweaters with cartoon appliqués and nightie-style gowns in jarring shades of turquoise and lemon brought to mind “Scooby Doo” rather than “Twin Peaks.”
