Jean-Paul Lespagnard RTW Fall 2015

Never mind the irritating presentation – with models changing into already-seen looks, followed by prolonged posing – Jean-Paul Lespagnard’s fall collection had plenty to offer in the street-style department, tinged with ethnic influences.

Despite the nonsensical presentation — with models changing into already-seen looks, followed by prolonged posing and stealing the thunder from newer numbers, which appeared only after unnerved guests had started to leave — Jean-Paul Lespagnard’s fall collection, tinged with a strong ethnic vibe, had plenty to offer in the street-style department.

The designer said he took cues from the quirky dressing habits of the Cholombians, a Mexican urban subculture he encountered during his travels, which he translated into roomy silhouettes held together with mountain-climbing ropes, as well as plenty of plaid and check patterns. They were most appealing on a series of fuzzy wool pieces, including an oversize boa-constrictor-type scarf and wrap-around coat. Wide-leg pants, meanwhile, were rolled up above the ankle for an irreverent attitude.
