John Lawrence Sullivan RTW Fall 2015

The models in the John Lawrence Sullivan show looked like they could have stepped off the set of an Eighties music video.

The models, the men in particular, in the John Lawrence Sullivan show looked like they could have stepped off the set of an Eighties music video — complete with bright pops of color, oversize proportions and slicked-back hair. Designer Arashi Yanagawa offered a strong selection of outerwear for men and women, from simple-yet-refined overcoats in black or gray to an eye-catching trench in shiny silver. These were paired with other tailored separates such as wide-leg pants and slim-fitting shirts for the guys, and pantsuits and shift dresses for the girls.

With its clean lines and subtle mix of textures, the lineup demonstrated Yanagawa’s knack for combining skilled tailoring with modern details. Sporty references abounded, such as sweaters and jersey tops with extralong sleeves and thumb holes, and bomber jackets in tech fabrics. Turtlenecks were layered under just about everything, including the shirts. In other nods to the era, Yanagawa accessorized with cap-toe shoes, mirrored sunglasses and two-tone gloves.
