Julien Macdonald RTW Fall 2015

This racy collection — with the scent of a dominatrix — won’t be on the Queen’s Christmas list anytime soon.

Britain’s Crown Jewels, with their bright hues, metallic sparkle and aura of authority, got Julien Macdonald thinking about the power of Britain’s queens — and of strong women generally.

And while this racy collection — with the scent of a dominatrix — won’t be on the Queen’s Christmas list any time soon, it was just what that rich, devil-may-care Macdonald customer loves. Dresses long and short hugged curves, as in one red minidress done in a spider-web pattern dotted with sequins, or a sapphire blue one with a sparkling black corset top.

Longer slip dresses — some paired with languid satin robe-like coats — were made from stretchy, peekaboo velvet, patches of guipure lace or yards of long metallic fringe swooshing as models walked. Thick chokers, long black gloves and thigh-high leggings punctuated this outré take on power dressing.
