Manish Arora RTW Fall 2015

Arora’s eye for detail was extraordinary and extended to his accessories.

One of the ornately embellished sweatshirts in Manish Arora’s fall line featured a rainbow harlequin motif merged with a photo of an electrical storm. It might be a pretty accurate picture of what was going through his brain as he designed the collection — perhaps after binge watching episodes of “Game of Thrones.”

The Indian designer is known for his no-holds-barred style, but this was over-the-top even by his standards, depicting the fantasy world of the hugely popular HBO series through a Bollywood filter. Outfits in multicolor patterns were piled high with feathers, sequins, pearls, crystals and patches of fake fur and even artificial grass. Intarsia knits proclaimed “Winter Is Coming” in teletype script, while the soundtrack featured a techno remix of the show’s theme song.

Arora’s eye for detail was extraordinary and extended to his accessories, which included fur-lined backpacks, tribal nose jewels and handbags shaped like life-sized skulls. It was frenzied, wacky and somehow, totally fierce.
