With their jaunty fedoras, beefy shoes and shoulders swaddled in scarves, Giorgio Armani’s Emporio crew looked like suave, urban explorers. Strip away the layers and kooky accoutrements, however, and the designer’s flair for soft tailoring showed through. Shearlings were as languid as cardigans; knitted or woolen coats — often belted — as easy as bathrobes. The collection was austere, lean and rendered in dark colors and plush textures. Storm flaps and sculpted leather vests added some teeth to all that soft wear.
