Kris Van Assche jumped on this season’s hybrids bandwagon, cutting and pasting athletic and tailoring elements together to graphic effect, creating pieces such as a top with a crisp white shirt neckline morphing into bands of different shirting and sweatshirt fabrics. Pulling from the same family, sweaters woven with strips of different traditional knit designs were also strong, but the concept looked a little affected at times, especially with the mixing of the very formal and the very sporty — such as the part college sweatshirt/part tailored jacket looks. Juxtaposed, the interspersed pedigree suits and outerwear pieces looked all the sharper for their purity.
