John Smedley compressed three-dimensional designs into 2-D, wearable ones for this graphic, colorful collection that took its cue from the architecture in old travel photos from the company’s archives. Smedley transformed buildings and their shadows in places such as the Tyrol, New York and Amsterdam into thick intarsia stripes, and clusters of parallelograms, triangles and kaleidoscopic shards. Colors ran up and down the thermometer, ranging from dark blue and black to hot orange and red.
