Texture is Julien David’s most significant trademark. For fall, the Tokyo-based designer invented “the natural wrinkle,” a chemical treatment he commissioned at a Japanese factory and used on a series of double-face cotton pants and bombers. David’s signature “street suits,” meanwhile, boasted a colorful 3D texture made from 10-thread stretch jacquard sourced in France, which looked as if it had been knitted by hand. No doubt, David’s suede and linen blend sneakers, featuring an extra-thick sole, will also make a speedy segue from runway to street.
