Walter Van Beirendonck’s fall collection was bursting with color, plus an eclectic mix of patterns and textures. The Belgian fashion maverick sent down the runway sartorial pieces — such as well-cut jackets and shirts, often emblazoned with stripes and his usual fetish references — combined with exercise leggings or shorts and trousers of various materials.

Accessories included felt helmets as well as chunky fabric necklaces and bracelets. The collection’s stated theme was the cryptic phrase “crossed crocodiles growl,” but the clear takeaway was Van Beirendonck’s anti-racism message, literally emblazoned on some models’ heads and on towering feathered headdresses.
