The sound of a motorcycle revving its engine kicked off the Jeremy Scott show, signaling the ride to come. A rocker chick/country western bimbo with Daisy Mae hairdos set the theme, which was big on bleached denim, painted suede, cow prints, colorful leathers and printed chain mail. It all was fashioned into high-waisted miniskirts, bra tops, cropped jackets and fringed pieces — exceptionally clever was the sequined trompe l’oeil minidress depicting a female torso in a bikini. The girls’ male counterparts were just as risqué, i.e. the thongs paired with bare-it-all chaps. A glimpse of commercial reality was found in Scott’s prints: Mexican blanket, cactus and sunglasses motifs on everything from denim shorts and jackets to T-shirts and minidresses to swimwear.
