The designer’s runway theater also doubles as a sales showroom, which he re-enacted for a quirky presentation that underlined his collection’s commercial appeal. The audience, seated at tables with open laptops surrounded by rolling racks, looked on as Gaultier’s team dressed the models, without even bothering to remove the swing tags. Hawaiian prints ran through the lineup, on tailored jackets, fluid silk pants and natty shorts. The designer playfully paired leather biker jackets and sporty blouson jackets with tailored pants. This low-key spectacle ended with a parade of terrific sailor sweaters.
