Clive Darby, the founder and creative director of Rake, had a romantic adventurer in mind — a man equally at home in the steamy bazaars of the Middle East as the equally hot nightclubs of Paris. “It’s a collection with an adventurous feel,” said Darby, who has worked with companies including Browns, Richard James, and Kilgour. The collection was packed with a mix of tailored silhouettes and easier, billowing shapes. For day, there were cotton Glen plaid jackets or linen safari ones, and for evening Darby offered a double-breasted blue dinner jacket. There was a surfeit of chinos, Japanese denim jeans, and breezy plaid shorts. Darby styled it all with worry beads, henna tattoos, and leather flip-flops — young, hippie touches that enlivened this polished, grown-up collection.
