Fifties glamour, melded with a subtle Eighties play on volume and touches of vibrant color, were the driving forces behind Bernard Rojo’s strong second runway show for Joseph Abboud.

The overriding sensibility was extremely leisure-inspired. Suits came in very relaxed silhouettes, many in brights such as marigold yellow and cobalt blue. The wrinkled linen fabric added texture and vitality to the tailored offering.

Among the sportswear highlights were high-waisted linen-blend pleated pants, paired with pique cotton polos that encapsulated the golden era of Hollywood. A raw-edged utilitarian jacket with matching red shorts added a touch of modernity to the vintage-inspired collection. Still, Rojo’s European background shone through here, suggesting a bit-too-Continental approach to American style.
