Designer Chitose Abe worked sporty casual looks for spring — with fewer of her signature garment hybrids. Sure, some short sleeve shirts sprouted drawstring waistbands (borrowed from windbreakers), and some trench coats and jackets had knit cardigan backs. But what look fresh were the summery fabrics and motifs Abe playfully piled on and mixed up. There was pin-dot chambray denim, faded linen madras, light cotton gingham, and sailor stripes woven into cotton jacquards, plus lightweight corduroys. With many shorts in the collection, this leisure-focused collection was retro and boyish.
