Sirens and snatches of soundtrack from a French police drama heralded the start of a show inspired by the late American painter Jean-Michel Basquiat. “Over the last four seasons I’ve been drawing inspiration from art, and we started bleaching and graffitiing things to continue the story,” said Spencer.

 

Bleached, acid-washed colors were splattered across everything from creased linen suits and trousers to bomber and safari jackets. Otherwise, a more muted palette of Spencer signature hues — reds, ambers and sky blues — defined bomber jackets, suits and car coats — with additional flashes of pajama prints. The techno music that accompanied the show was selected by Spencer’s pal, Idris Elba, who was spinning the decks in the middle of the venue.
