There was a uniform approach to the spring Marc by Marc Jacobs collection, not only because the men’s mimicked the women’s clothes, but it was largely about suits. There were jumpsuits, playsuits and traditional suits — all in a relaxed fit and styled with T-shirts and sneakers for an Ellen DeGeneres moment.
The tailoring was cool and casual for both sexes. Pastel cotton linen twill pants and jackets channeled a summer ease, and outerwear — such as his ’n hers brown cotton twill jackets — was an instant outfit-maker.
With the laid-back classics covered, Jacobs went into novelty mode with sequins and satin worked with a Fifties flavor. The sequins shone on two easy dresses, one shift, one midlength with a loose cut.
The satin was more kitschy and youthful, worked in flame and sparkly star patterns for the gals and bombers and satin-lapeled tux jackets for the guys.
