The designer showcased his nautical-inspired collection on the Internet to dovetail with the launch of his Web site. In lieu of sailor stripes, Bidjan Saberi studied the technical side of sailing — from ship fittings and fishing nets to fishermen’s traditional clothing — integrating elements of them into his designs.

Blue and white were passed over for black and white — on knitted cotton pants that can be raised with straps like a sail — and on two-tone leather jackets. Recycled spinnaker sails were turned into a “hoistable” raincoat and bomber jacket.
