Walter Van Beirendonck was a master of trompe l’oeil for his spring collection with a “home sweet home” theme. The Belgian fashion maverick sent down the runway highly graphic, well-tailored suits, shorts and jackets with colorblocking and patterns often reminiscent of the interior of a room with its parquet and wallpaper. A few looks even displayed a table and flower-filled vase — one literally sprung from a jacket like a children’s pop-up book, in 3-D.
