The notion of protection in an urban environment informed the roomier proportions and a surfeit of hoods that appeared in Lee Roach’s collection, which seemed softer and more sophisticated than previous seasons.

This new attitude was delivered through the use of softly tailored linen suiting in khaki, taupe and navy. Hip-length jackets had clean, snap-front closures, and were worn with roomy trousers. A taupe linen shirt was worn open as a jacket over a black T-shirt and white cotton pants, delivering an almost Eighties jet set effect.

Blood red nylon — in short hooded jackets and flat-front trousers — closed the show on an upbeat note.
