Maharishi founder Hardy Blechman, who bills his label as pacifist military style, would love to own an original work by the late Italian artist Alighiero Boetti, best known for his embroidered maps of the world — were it not for the six- or seven-figure price tags.

He did the next best thing by using Boetti’s travels to Afghanistan as the inspiration for Maharishi’s spring-summer collection. Rug patterns and map motifs decorated sweatshirts and T-shirts, while parkas, anoraks and blousons came in sleek nylons or vintage camouflage prints. Headscarves and face coverings completed the rugged explorer look.
