Simon Holloway channeled an Ivy League look and riffed on the brand’s first successful sneaker. Dubbed the Traditional, it was inspired by the cricket world, and launched in 1986. The jersey-heavy collection owed a lot to the Eighties, an era marked by “people’s first exposure to personal technology such as video games,” Holloway noted. Enter the black boxy jackets and slim pants embellished with colorful Space Invaders.
Athleticism was also top of mind for Holloway, who cited an “obsession with the idea of sweatshirts and T-shirts,” often with embossed numbers. The collection was rounded off by chinos, feather-light cashmere knits, varsity jackets and vests in a palette of basic black, white and heather gray, emboldened by jolts of cherry red or China blue.
