The Melinda Gloss man was in the mood for travel. Toting calfskin weekenders and sleek backpacks that riffed off traditional sailor bags, he set off in a rich variety of voluminous trousers.
With comfort and ease in mind, designers Mathieu de Ménonville and Rémi de Laquintane sent out pleated Bermuda shorts and this season’s carrot pant, which they matched with Fifties-inspired cropped jackets or knitted sweaters. Roomy straight-legged pants in brown and blue telegraphed athletic cool, while a boxy high-waist style, done in different checks, harked back to Forties dandies.
What was worn above the waist could have been more inspired, but the bottoms were the top.
