Nicolas Ghesquière is going back to a sporty spirit at Balenciaga for pre-fall, fusing technical fabric and painterly prints in a range of daring silhouettes. Abstract motifs evoking landscapes or jungle flowers are splashed over architectural suits, while synthetic ottoman and foam-fused jersey are used to create sculptural volumes and playful, oversize proportions. Also oozing Balenciaga’s experimental cool are layered tanks and cropped and quilted military jackets.
