Consuelo Castiglioni may have armed herself with only a ruler and graph paper to design Marni’s geometric pre-fall collection, which she described as “witty, easy, oversized — a complete wardrobe for a total individual.” Both the silhouettes and the patterns were superclean and angular, as in a block-print, vertical-stripe silk dress and a knee-length wool pencil skirt featuring a padded panel on the front in contrasting colors (gray and green) and fabrics (wool and cotton) with a sharp lacquered sheepskin jacket. But the intellectual and eclectic Marni tomboy likes to show her gentle side, too, so a silk sweatshirt in an abstract floral print fit the bill.
