Suzanne Clements and Inacio Ribeiro’s debut pre-fall collection mined the strong colors and bold prints that have become a signature for the label. This time, the latter were inspired by Rorschach’s inkblots, but done in pretty purples, blues and yellows to resemble a pattern of pansies. Silhouettes ranged from easy silk tea dresses to ladylike silk pencil skirts and pajama-style pants. “It’s an English eccentric version of a Palm Springs hostess,” said Ribeiro. As a foil to the prints, there were tailored shift dresses and pencil skirts in red and green heavy wool jersey, while a nonchalant, masculine edge came from a series of oversize cashmere sweaters. Done in graphic intarsia designs, they are actually from the pair’s fall 2012 cashmere capsule collection for men.
