A series of photos taken as part of a Sixties experiment when spiders were drugged to see their resulting web patterns. That was the starting point for Helmut Lang’s Nicole and Michael Colovos, who showed a variety of webby prints and burnout techniques on dresses, including a silk one with a leather neckline and sleeves. They evolved their edgy leathers via a draped skirt topped with an asymmetric jacket that featured origamilike pleats, as well as a silk and leather trenchcoat and stretch leather leggings. For pre-fall, the Colovoses also introduced Helmut, a T-shirt-based label of jersey basics, including tops, dresses and leggings that will retail from $90 to $175.
