Ralph Rucci sees this mostly navy and black collection, his first for pre-fall, as a “shadow of fall, which will be full of strong, vibrant colors.” Excited about his new fabrics, he worked with “nonseasonal” wool jerseys and a bonded cashmere for coats and jackets. Simple jersey dresses were accented with visible seams and darts, while the bold outerwear featured beautifully sculpted shapes that, Rucci said, were either “convex or concave.” He was a bit more daring with a knockout one-sleeve navy sheath.
