“Connecting the Dots” is the title of Donna Karan’s exhibition of work by her late husband Stephan Weiss on view at her downtown New York gallery space. She carried over the theme to her pre-fall collection, which was “all about the body and sculpture,” she said. “My husband and I are having a comeback.” Sculptural shapes and volumes inspired by Weiss’ art, which was displayed around Karan’s showroom, took form in curvy jackets, dresses layered over pants and flared skirts with sheer panels at the hem. The result was a womanly wardrobe of fairly classic pieces — everything was black, ivory or brown — in interesting fabrics, such as wool that felt like a mix of cashmere Neoprene.
