Narciso Rodriguez viewed his pre-fall collection as an evolution of his spring one, which was widely praised as one of the strongest of his career. The same relaxed mood was worked into these dresses, shells and tailored pants that followed a slim line — Rodriguez’s signature — without being strict.
He also rediscovered a triangle motif, something he said has been in his vocabulary forever but was “reenergized” for pre-fall. It showed up on a tapered stripe down the side of tuxedo pants, as a slight V on a high-neck tank and a deep V on a silk and leather dress.
Leather — stretch and pony — was a major statement, not only on the clothes, including more classically feminine dresses with defined waists and full skirts, but also in Rodriguez’s burgeoning accessories business. From the latter, standouts included a two-tone pink and rust clutch and killer pony pumps.
