“Easy.” That was the word Monique Lhuillier used to describe her jewel-toned collection. “This is a transition time for me,” the designer said. “She’s sleeker and sexier this season.”
That translated into loose, flowing versions of her signature red-carpet-ready dresses, here with beaded necklines and chiffon overlay to take on a shapeless, yet sophisticated caftan silhouette. Others were done in bright royal blue and seafoam, with lace sleeves made to mimic tattoos. For a more modern evening look, the designer showed several jumpsuits, long-sleeved and one-shouldered, in both crepe and lace. The high-low hem, a Lhuillier staple, was reimagined in patchwork lace.
For daywear, the designer was successful in her simple shifts. A textured cotton frock in a lace print and a navy blue number with feathered trim were among the highlights.
