Resort is an ideal season for a designer like Gregory Parkinson, he of the hand-dyed techniques and mixed media separates that are crafted as much to be layered with abandon as mixed with his wares of seasons past. “I’ve spent a lot of time with my customers this year and they want clothing, especially in this economy, that has a long life,” he noted. With a favorite camouflage jacket as a jumping-off point, Parkinson tie-dyed, appliquéd and overdyed cottons and silks to create his own pretty version of the pattern on lush caftan shapes, flowing skirts and dainty tank tops, all of which felt just right.
