For their first resort collection, Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos decided to take their London girl to the beachy environs of California, which gave the lineup its breezy, buoyant up vibe. The duo stuck to sunny colors — yellow, ocean blues and vivid reds — while keeping the focal point, as always, in their dynamic prints. This time, they blew up images of foliage, classic jacquards and lace (“It’s a microscopic look,” said Pilotto), spliced them apart and created abstract mosaic patterns on short flirty dresses — both structured and draped — as well as slim skirts, blazers and easy tops. The inspiration? Belgian artist Walter Leblanc and his optical series of twisted plastic ribbon paintings from the Sixties.
