Alber Elbaz took a freewheeling approach to cruise at Lanvin, his far-flung inspirations stretching from Elizabeth Taylor and England’s dashing princes to Laotian monks and Madame Grès. The result was a diverse, exhilarating collection with plenty of chic — and cheek. Looks included intricately draped jersey gowns and African-inspired fringed dresses as well as grosgrain-trimmed chinos paired with military jackets in cotton tweed. Elbaz’s nonpareil sense of Parisian sophistication ran throughout it all, including an avalanche of vacation-minded accessories.
