“There’s a big need for dresses right now,” said Ralph Rucci, about his extensive resort collection for Chado, which was full of terrific, short easy shapes. “I want to introduce the working woman to these clothes.” So his dresses included shirt looks, lean halters and flared drape-fronts. Whether done in linen, Ultrasuede, matte jersey or caviar-beaded lace, the beautifully cut pieces struck a fine balance between sporty and Rucci’s signature glamour. The latter came by way of long, color-blocked kaftans and dramatically swirling dresses over pants.
