For his debut resort collection, Thom Browne was thinking East Coast prep. “I wanted to do the kind of tailoring I’m known for but soften it,” he said. Out came madras plaids — which we’ll see a lot more of come February, he hinted — and chic floral cotton jacquards cut into classic topcoats and blazers, along with some great kitschy prints like whales and tennis rackets. It was all mixed in with pretty silk dresses and delicate lace tops, some with dropped collars and crystal embroidery. The whole lot was accessorized with structured bags and oversize sunglasses; that latter category is new this season.
