A Jean Paul Gaultier pre-collection is typically based on the house’s iconic classic styles, so for resort, a nautical and le smoking theme ran throughout. What was new, however, was the fluidity of the looks — even shown on the more tailored pieces, such as a tuxedo jacket with an asymmetric collar and lapels that draped like a scarf, and jersey pants that flowed like an Indian sarong. Fittingly, an Indian feel was also evident, demonstrated with red or striped silk jumpsuits, cut so wide they looked like caftan dresses, not to mention the turbans that topped every look.
