“Effortless. Sexy. On the go.” — Diane von Furstenberg’s spot-on description of her resort collection. She called the collection “Kaleidoscope” because of its wide range of pieces that can be worn together or stand on their own, or, as she put it somewhat esoterically, “Every day is a turning point, a new perspective.” On that note, she offered a chic new take on the wrap dress, rendered in two fabrics— a jersey top with a mikado silk bottom. The combination gave the classic a more voluminous skirt than the original design, and was available in several prints, including a soft snakeskin and a bold, graphic pattern loosely reminiscent of a magnified view through a kaleidoscope. It felt fresh, as did the numerous flirty dresses, many formfitting with flounced hems. A knit dress that mixed floral with stripe motifs and python-print pajamas added to the collection’s charm.
