Donna Karan called her resort lineup “The L Word,” but this was not a reference to the TV show about women who love women. Instead, there was a list of words — linear, long, lean, leather, lightweight among them — to describe the spirit of the clothes. Some great pieces here had all the elements Karan is known for, like draped dresses, including a stunning indigo number with a sash flowing off the shoulder, as well as bias-cut jackets over skirts cut with asymmetrical hems. The latter never felt too constructed but were executed with a light hand. Karan accentuated her largely black palette with accents of red — like the abstract pattern of dots and stripes on languid pants — and gold coin embellishments that added an eclectic feel.
